The Myanmar junta denied passports to Chin and Kachin ethnic minorities, according to Khit Thit Media's interview with those who were denied during their application.
"I was not the only applicant denied. I am aware that some of my Kachin people before me were also denied and were told to return at a later date" one Kachin told the Khit Thit Media.
"I am Bamar-Chin. I applied for a passport in Myawaddy, and I was told by the authorities that my passport would not be issued for being Chin. My application was denied just for being Chin. It was very tiring to wait in a queue and when my turn came, I was told chin people are not given. I was very pissed off that my application was denied just for my identity. It's a discrimination against minorities" an ethnic Chin told Khit Thit Media.
