Indian Rebel, Chin Kuki Liberation Army (CKLA), based on the Myanmar-India boarder robbed villagers at gunpoint in Townzang Township, Northern Chin State, according to a statement issued by the CDF-Tonzang.
Villagers were threatened with firearms as they were robbed of money, jewellery, and other valuables. The CKLA asked for money between 5 to 10 lakhs of Indian rupee at gunpoint in some villages according to the statement.
As the CDF-Tonzang raided those CKLA members, some were dead, some were injured, and three escaped to India and were later arrested by the Indian authorities, according to a statement released by the CDF-Tonzang.
The robbery was led by Mr. Ngam Cha and Mr Ja Mon and they had already conducted such robbery in March 2023.
The CLA is based on the India-Myanmar border. The Chin-Kuki community's CSO claimed that CKLA doesn't represent their community and the KNO/KNA (Kukinational Organisation/Army) is the sole legitimate armed group representing the Chin-Kuki people.
